Things to Do on Long Island

Things to Do on Long Island

Long Island is a seaside treasure just east of New York City, fringed with beaches and loaded with historic buildings, expansive gardens, and top-notch restaurants. Long Island has more to offer than meets the eye at any time of year. Long Island is rich with gems, from the Gatsby-era mansions of the North Shore to the seashores of the Atlantic Ocean.

Nassau County and Suffolk County are the two counties that make up Long Island. Long Island is 118 miles long, and while you may only be familiar with the Hamptons or Montauk, Long Island has much more to offer.

Queens and Brooklyn, on the other hand, are NOT included in the Long Island Counties. As a result, anything in Queens or Brooklyn (such as Coney Island) is NOT Long Island. Brooklyn and Queens are boroughs of New York City. Long Island even has legislation that differs from the rest of New York, such as the legal smoking age.
